I was sitting in the stands this afternoon, watching my 6 year-old daughter in her first skating event "with music". For the sake of historical accuracy, I will report that she finished her 1 minute program a full 10 seconds early and stood in her final pose, making faces at the camera, until the music ended. At that point, she dutifully bowed to the judges and audience (excellent coaching: thanks Tiff!), skated off the ice, and fell on exiting the ice.
While we were sitting in the stands, my mother, who thinks that I'm an obsessive skating parent, looked around at the other spectators. She turned to me, and thanked me for not owning a jacket that says "Skater Mom" in rhinestones.
Finally, Momzilla has done something right.
